Received Our Call

March 13th we received our mission call to the New York Utica Mission as S&I Missionaries.

We had indicated that we wanted to go to the London Temple due to a phone call I received from the Temple Department wanting to know if I spoke Spanish as they needed a voluntary Assistant Recorded in a South America Temple. I do not speak Spanish but indicated that we would serve in another temple if available come September and they indicated a need in Boston, Washington and London.  We indicated that we would love to go to London and they indicated they would look for our application and process it.

Well, after several weeks or not hearing anything I called the Senior Missionary Department and found that our application had been marked priority and sent to the Quorum of the Seventy for review.  That was on a Monday.  On Thursday morning I got a call from President Olsen indicating that the Missionary Department called him and wanted to know if we could increase our monthly allowance by $600.  We indicated YES.  He called the Missionary Department Back and gave them that information.   On Friday I got a call from the Secretary of the Senior Missionary Department telling me that our calling was on President Monson's desk awaiting his signature.  The following Wednesday we got our call.

We are very excited to be serving in New York and to be working with the YA's in teaching institute as well as other assignments that will come our way.  We are looking forwarding to hearing from the missionaries we will be replacing as well as from the Misison President and the CES Director in the area.
